George V. Clark, view, ...You know I do respect Rev. George V. Clark, view, however I must say he too must also respect my view, that because he finds it necessary to define what the meaning of what the Stars and Bars, represent, without fully understanding what the flag represents.
He as a Rev. should understand the Biblical instructions that were given, for the proper use of banners, and flags, that represent a group of people.
His view is one that is self defined, and inaccurate,as the facts can reveal otherwise.
If he be offended by what many call the Confederate Flag, then let I make a cause for it's existance.
And the arguement that if there were a flag to be discharged as being offensive, let it be the one in which was raised high above the nation, the one flag in which flew high upon the Northern merchant slave ships.
The flag that continued to fly, whilst the marches in D.C continued well into the 20th century.
Yes I'm talking about the United States flag.
For there were not a single slave ship that mastered a Stars and Bars.
The Stars and Bars flag is not a Confederate flag, that represents hate of a people, it was and is a Battle flag, it was created well after the start of the civil war.
I am not insensitive, to ones heritage, whether it be from one or another.
But indeed, there is but the winners of wars that get to write the history of war, often times the winner will write their version of history, the revisionists.
Left out of the text books, are the personal beleifs of Lincoln,of Grant, and of Lee.
Left out are those facts, such as Lee freeing all of his slaves before the civil war, left out is the fact that Grants wife held slaves years after the end of the civil war.
The things in which motivated the Southern people to be Confederates, were each saw a cause, and while each cause may not have been agreed upon for the most part, most felt the South had been invaded, first by Northern politics, secondly by unfair monetary treatment, thirdly being shut out of the ownership of the terroritories.
Nevertheless this need not be a discussion of causes at this time, but an opinion, in which the heritage of the South must not be lost because we feel offended by what we think something meant or means.
Because we must be nuetral, otherwise we risk once again becomimg embattled with the scars, cited by those mens whoms beating heart lasso's a reason, without reasoning, and forget that the Heart beats not at thine own risk, but for an authority greater than ourselves, and that reason is to overcome both objections, and subjective and selective reasoning by personal bias.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
